Stardew Valley 1.6 Update: Collaboration with Stardew Valley Expanded Modder

Stardew Valley, the beloved farming simulation game, recently received its highly anticipated 1.6 update. While players were excited about the new content, one detail remained hidden until now: the collaboration between Eric Barone (also known as ConcernedApe), the game's creator, and FlashShifter, the developer behind the popular Stardew Valley Expanded mod.

From Modder to Official Developer

FlashShifter, who resides in the same city as Eric Barone, had been modding Stardew Valley for a year. Their dream was to work with Barone, but they hesitated to ask, assuming he handled everything himself. However, fate intervened when FlashShifter faced hard times after their car was stolen. Desperate, they met with Barone and asked if he would hire them. To their surprise, Barone immediately brought them on board.

FlashShifter's role in the 1.6 update involved enhancing existing content and ensuring compatibility with the new additions. Their extensive self-taught skills, including pixel art, music composition, and scripting, made them a valuable asset.

Stardew Valley Expanded: A Modder's Dream

Stardew Valley Expanded, the most popular mod on Nexus Mods, offers players an expansive experience. With additional NPCs, 50 new locations, and more, it almost feels like a sequel to the base game. Now fully compatible with the 1.6 update, Expanded continues to provide players with that magical feeling they had when first playing Stardew Valley.

Barone recommends trying out the official 1.6 update without mods, but for those who want the best of both worlds, Stardew Valley Expanded remains a fantastic choice.
