Reading FC Sanctioned for Breaching FA Intermediary Regulations

Published on May 15, 2024

Reading FC and four individuals have been sanctioned following misconduct charges related to breaches of FA Rule E1.2 between March 1, 2019, and July 16, 2019.

Background

It was alleged that Reading FC, along with Nigel Howe, Sue Hewett, and Michael Gilkes (acting on behalf of the Club), as well as Intermediary Glen Tweneboah, were involved in improper conduct.

Verdict and Penalties

An independent Regulatory Commission found all charges to be proven. As a result:

  • Reading FC faces a £200,000 fine.
  • Nigel Howe has been fined £5,000 and suspended for 12 months.

The Club and individuals denied breaching Intermediary Regulation E5 but were held accountable for their actions.
