Ryan Murphy Lists Richard Neutra-Designed LA Home for $33.9M

The creator of “Glee” and “American Horror Story,” Ryan Murphy, has put his newly restored historic Los Angeles property on the market. The five-bedroom home, originally designed by legendary modernist architect Richard Neutra, is seeking $33.9 million.

Restoring a Mid-Century Gem

Murphy purchased the Neutra-built compound from former owner Tom Ford in 2022 for $29 million. The approximately 3,800-square-foot house, known as the Brown House, features original Neutra-era details, including terrazzo flooring, black mosaic bathroom tiles, and wood paneling.

Modern Amenities and Unique Features

The property boasts two high-end kitchens, a double-wide living room, and a primary suite with lacquered walls. The Romanesque garden surrounds a 17th-century fountain, and the pool area offers a tranquil retreat.

Preserving Architectural Legacy

Riley Schmidt of Riley Real Estate said, “It’s an honor to represent this iconic Richard Neutra estate in Bel Air, that offers a rare opportunity to own a landmark of modernism, beautifully restored and preserved by Ryan Murphy, whose own narrative artistry is as renowned as the architecture itself.”
