Following a week of caucusing, negotiations between the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have resumed. This new phase of talks involves IATSE’s 13 West Coast Studio Locals (WCSL), each individually addressing their craft-specific issues with the studios.

Simultaneous Local Negotiations

Starting from March 18 and continuing until April 26, two locals negotiate simultaneously at any given time. The goal is to ensure that each of the 13 local unions has sufficient time to engage with the AMPTP ahead of the resumption of broader negotiations.

Local Highlights

On March 18, the International Cinematographer’s Guild (IATSE Local 600) and the Art Directors Guild (IATSE Local 800) initiated their individual negotiations. The Motion Picture Editors Guild (IATSE Local 700) and IATSE Local 729 are expected to begin their talks later this week.

Unprecedented Solidarity

IATSE’s preparations for negotiations have fostered historic solidarity within the entertainment industry. Thousands of union members rallied in Los Angeles under the banner of ‘Many Crafts, One Fight.’ During the Oscars telecast, a salute to behind-the-scenes workers underscored the importance of these negotiations. Additionally, UNI Global Union, representing service workers worldwide, expressed support for IATSE’s ongoing efforts.

As the negotiations continue, our goal remains a fair agreement that prioritizes the needs of our members. Stay tuned for further updates.
