BMW Unveils High-Performance Quad-Motor EV Prototype

By Peter Johnson | March 19, 2024

BMW has taken the wraps off its groundbreaking quad-motor electric vehicle (EV) prototype, signaling a new era of high-performance electric cars.

Testing in Icy Conditions

The first quad-motor EV from BMW M was recently spotted testing in icy conditions. The video from CarSpyMedia showcases a sportier, more aggressive version of the BMW i4, complete with wide fenders and a low ride.

Powerful Performance

Although official specs are yet to be revealed, the quad-motor EV is expected to boast over 1,000 horsepower, putting it in the same league as the range-topping Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. The vehicle is anticipated to ride on BMW's innovative Neue Klasse platform.

Platform Details

The Neue Klasse architecture, designed specifically for EVs, integrates batteries into the vehicle's structure. With up to four electric motors, each driving a wheel for all-wheel drive, this platform promises exceptional performance. BMW product development chief Frank Weber confirmed that the quad-motor setup can operate "up to one megawatt," equivalent to around 1,340 horsepower.

Looking Ahead

BMW's electric M division is pushing boundaries, and enthusiasts can expect more all-wheel-drive performance cars in the future. As the automotive landscape evolves, the quad-motor M performance EV aims to surpass even the fastest gasoline-powered counterparts.

Stay tuned for further updates as BMW continues to redefine electric driving.
